#3 – “It hits all by itself” (Enter the Dragon, 1973)

Why Lee-mendous: Lee immersed himself in the teachings of kung-fu. Dissatisfied with the rigidity of exisiting disciplines, he created his own, Jeet Kun Do.

A style that advocated movement between different disciplines, he applied it to his big screen fight scenes.

Lee’s philosophy is captured in this scene with an elder monk in Enter the Dragon. Do not become bound by technique. Ready yourself for combat, but do not be controlled by it. Allow yourself to flow with the opportunities a fight presents.

Interesting-Lee: Producer Fred Weintraub cut this scene for the initial American release. It has since been restored to DVD and Blu-ray releases.
